Gas Flooding

What is Gas Flooding?

"Gas Flooding," also known as miscible flooding, is one of the leading enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technologies employed for recovering oil that was formerly referred to as either stranded or trapped. Gas flooding is an "enhanced oil recovery" application for injecting miscible (and immiscible) gases into an oil reservoir for increasing oil production.

Gas flooding typically includes CO2, natural gas or nitrogen as the gas that is injected.  Gas flooding tasked place as either a miscible flood or an immiscible flood. Miscible means that the gas that is injected  "mixes" with the oil, thereby reducing viscosity and interfacial tension of the oil and rock.  Miscible gas flooding also  increases oil "swelling" and localized pressure or drive within the reservoir.  "Immiscible" flooding means that the gas that is injected into the reservoir does not mix or go into solution. Therefore the purpose of the immiscible flood is to provide the energy or drive by increased pressure.  Immiscible flooding does not produce as much oil as miscible gs flooding, however there are certain applications and reservoirs wherein immiscible flooding is well-suited.

Who is EOR Technologies?

EOR Technologies is one of very few EOR "technology neutral" companies that deliver the maximum oil production for at the least cost for our clients located in the USA and Canada. Determining the optimum EOR technology to deploy for any specific reservoir and mature oil field demands critical review, analysis, evaluation, history, present conditions, site review, samples of oil and produced water and oil field operations by experts in; petroleum engineering, geology/geosystems engineering as well as environmental and regulatory compliance.

Over the past forty years, the enhanced oil recovery industry has produced a number of excellent and proven EOR technologies.

However, the optimum EOR technology for any one particular client with declining oil production, is dependent on a number of variables that must be identified and understood before selecting the correct EOR technology, including;

among others.

The "optimum" EOR technology for one reservoir and pay zone may not be the optimum EOR technology for another - even within the same oil field. That's why we are "EOR technology neutral." We apply the optimum EOR technology for each client's specific requirements for maximizing our client's oil recovery, at the least possible cost.

Enhanced oil recovery represents a significant opportunity for companies with declining oil production to significantly increase their oil production and revenues through our range of EOR technologies and services.

How much more oil can we produce from our "mature" oil field and wells?

Enhanced oil recovery or "EOR" represents a significant opportunity for companies with declining oil production to significantly increase their oil production and revenues through our range of EOR technologies and services.

As seen above, there are a number of variables that determine the potential increase in production for any particular application.

With that said, some of the EOR technologies can have a significant reversal in oil production. And by "significant," this could mean anywhere from a 100% increase in oil production to a 500% increase in oil production.

Would increasing your oil production from 5 bbls/day to 10 bbls/day for a 100% increase in oil production.  Would that make a difference? How about going from 100 bbls/day to 500 bbls/day for a 500% increase in oil production. That's the possibility with enhanced oil recovery.

What is "mobility" and mobility control within an oil reservoir and why is it important ?

The definition of mobility is the ratio of its relative permeability in a "porous" medium to its viscosity. By reducing water's mobility - through the increase of its' viscosity through the addition of polymer (PAM) the  properties become nearly identical to the oil within the target pay zone/reservoir.

In Chemical EOR and chemical flooding (which includes polymer flooding) water is made more "viscous" by adding a  polymer in order to obtain a "mobility ratio" of 1 between water and the oil in the target pay zone; i.e. the same mobility for the two different fluids.

In water with low a low salinity content, polymer flooding can easily boost the viscosity of water making the chemical flooding process more efficient requiring less water.

Moving forward with EOR Technologies and start increasing your oil production.

EOR Technologies is an "independent" EOR company that is EOR "technology-neutral."  We provide the optimum EOR technology for companies seeking to reverse their declining oil production. EOR technology-neutral means that EOR Technologies is

* NOT a chemical company selling chemicals

* NOT an engineering company selling EOR engineering or petroleum engineering services

* We are NOT an equipment company, selling EOR equipment or recently-patented products!

For us to assist, your oil production must be located in the USA or Canada and by an initial no-charge telephone consult, determine whether your oil wells/mature oil field may qualify and benefit from one of our EOR technologies.

After the no-charge telephone consult determines the need for us to test your oil wells and reservoir, we execute an agreement that authorizes us to send our personnel and equipment to perform the test and invoice for this service. The test determines existing conditions and the optimum EOR solution.

Once we have completed the test and analysis, we offer various options for moving forward including a no out-of-pocket expense option (for qualified oil wells/oil fields).

About us:

We Free Trapped Oil sm with the optimum EOR "technology-neutral" solution.  EOR Technologies' products, services and capabilities include:

There is only one "optimum" EOR solution per well/reservoir or mature oil field that will produce the desired outcome:  "maximum oil production at the least cost."  That's our job, we identify and deploy that EOR solution to insure the maximum oil production for the least cost for our clients. Note: EOR Technologies may utilize EOR products and services provided in part or in whole by affiliated companies or partner companies. Call/email us today for an initial consultation to discuss your declining oil production problems.

“spending hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars every year for oil, much of it from the Middle East, is just about the single stupidest thing that modern society could possibly do.  It’s very difficult to think of anything more idiotic than that.”
~ R. James Woolsey, Jr., former Director of the CIA

Price of Addiction
to Foreign Oil

According to R. James Woolsey, for Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, “The basic insight is to realize that global warming, the geopolitics of oil, and warfare in the Persian Gulf are not separate problems — they are aspects of a single problem, the West’s dependence on oil.”
